About the Artist

Alex White-Mazzarella engages his viewers through spontaneously combining color, line and motion to explore and transcend visions of the culture of our time. A constant mixing of media and interaction with the surface is fundamental to the creation of intense expressive work that pushes past the material and into metaphysical observations of the age, world and reality in which we exist.

The artist was born in Boston MA, USA in 1979 and moved to New York in 2008 after living in Hong Kong China, Barcelona Spain and Rome where he worked as a city planner. His talent and affinity for drawing and painting was noted at a young age and his world travels/observations have been a constant influence. His work has been inspired by the likes of Kirchner, Appel, Miro, Clemente, Basquiat, Avery, Hundertwasser, Pollock, Tapies and William Blake.

Mr White-Mazzarella currently studies under Frank O'Cain and Phillip Sherrod at the Art Students League. He holds degrees in Economics and City Planning.

He has been exhibiting his work since early 2009 after being discovered by Richard Temperio of the Sideshow Gallery in Williamsburg Brooklyn.

About the Paintings

A universe of phenomenon spins. Chaos chemistry creation. An ongoing evolution of moments. Infinite memory, inexistent yet the foundation for every moment of light. Likewise we exist. Minds churning souls searching we interpret creating our moments. Complicating, simplifying, questioning, confirming... all from an unknown source. The spontaneity of it all. These paintings are big bang snapshots... recordings of creation through expression; a reality and glimpse of an unidentifiable source. An activation of the indigenous within and a subjugating of conscious decision. Media remixed, a metaphysical aquarium, a swim through our universe, living and freezing realities.
